Grant for start-ups

Berlin, North Rhine-Westphalia, and Brandenburg already have one, and in the future there will also be a master craftsman start-up bonus in Saxony-Anhalt: a one-time grant of 10.000 euros is planned.

Berlin has had it since 1986 , North Rhine-Westphalia since 1995 , and Brandenburg since 2015 : the master craftsman start-up bonus. Now Saxony-Anhalt is joining them. It will provide funding to tradespeople who, after passing their master craftsman's examination, are starting a new business in the state for the first time or taking over an existing one. Applications for the bonus can be submitted starting July 24th.

The current two-year budget provides approximately €2,6 million for this purpose until the end of 2018. A one-time bonus of €10.000 is planned. Starting in 2019, the master craftsman start-up bonus will be funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

Strong incentive for new founders and successors

"In view of the declining number of master craftsmen and the growing number of impending business transfers, we want to create a strong incentive for new business start-ups and company successions with the Master Craftsmen's Start-up Bonus," explained Economics Minister Armin Willingmann at the launch of the new funding program. "This funding instrument is a clear vote of the state government for entrepreneurship and for securing business succession in our state. It strengthens the important role of the skilled trades in Saxony-Anhalt's economic structure," said Hagen Mauer, President of the Magdeburg Chamber of Skilled Crafts.
