State extends start-up scholarship

The NRW state government is extending the NRW Start-up Grant for three years. Starting in October, higher funding amounts will be available.

The state government of North Rhine-Westphalia is extending the NRW Start-up Grant program for three years , effective October 1, 2023. Starting in early October, founders will receive increased monthly funding of €1.200, up from €1.000. Furthermore, the grant can now be extended by three months upon the birth of a child and suspended for up to twelve months while receiving parental leave benefits.

Funding for up to three start-up founders

The grant provides up to three founders of a startup with €1.200 per month for up to one year . A total of 37 networks with 110 contact points in North Rhine-Westphalia handle the selection and advising of interested parties. They support the application process and offer a timely opportunity to present to the juries. A prerequisite is that the founders either intend to start their own business in NRW within the next twelve months or that the business was founded within the past twelve months.

"With the improved grant, we are supporting founders during a crucial phase of building their businesses ," says Minister of Economic Affairs Mona Neubaur (Greens). "The increased financial flexibility allows them to focus on the business itself. We also want to provide greater support for women and families and encourage them to put their ideas into practice: because family and entrepreneurship should not be mutually exclusive. In this way, we aim to further increase the proportion of female-founded businesses and finally harness this potential."
