A timber construction company makes every effort to fulfill its customers' dreams and, among other things, uses the precise evaluations offered by DATEV solutions.
Many people dream of owning their own home these days. Richard Kurz makes such dreams come true several times a month. With his timber construction company, a classic family business in the Upper Palatinate region, he builds timber houses – modern bungalows as well as traditional country houses . State-of-the-art software is used from the initial inquiry by potential customers via the modern website, and this continues throughout the planning, construction, and financial processing phases. For the latter, Richard Kurz's dream home manufacturing company uses solutions from DATEV eG.
Wood is one of the oldest building materials. Richard Kurz, who founded his own company in 1997 after passing his master craftsman's exam, could only have imagined that it would one day experience such a revival as it is now. Today, he and his wife Martina Kurz run a modern timber construction company with nearly 40 employees . Their dream home manufacturing business stands for the combination of ecological construction and economic efficiency. "Every single person in our company shares responsibility for the consistently high quality of our buildings," explains Richard Kurz. "Everyone is involved in ensuring reliable planning and qualified execution of the construction projects."
They don't shy away from challenges. That's why the company has grown steadily in recent years, taking on projects of varying difficulty and complexity. In 2007, their own office building was built as a model house using timber construction. Regular quality assurance measures ensure precisely this, made visible externally through certifications, among other things.
Quality and expertise are also important to Richard and Martina Kurz in their collaboration with DATEV. They utilize, among other things, the construction and trades industry package from the cooperatively organized IT service provider, which was developed for the specific requirements of financial accounting in the construction sector. The DATEV solution can be connected via interfaces to the industry-specific software already used in the business.

"For planning and costing tailored to the specific customer requirements, we need the costs from previous construction sites," explains Martina Kurz. "For this purpose, we purchased an app that allows employees to instantly record their time on their mobile phones while on the go and indicate whether it was used productively or unproductively." This data is then transferred to the DATEV classic payroll solution at the click of a button. "This also allows me to record the working time account we maintain in construction, as well as the vacation account, and I can post the individual data to the cost centers of the construction sites."
The analysis options from DATEV Mittelstand Faktura with Accounting in conjunction with the Construction and Crafts Industry Pact are also used in the carpentry shop. "Previously, we could only extract the standard profit and loss accounts. With the new industry package, we can extract profit and loss accounts that accurately represent the surcharge rate or productivity/unproductivity," says Martina Kurz. Richard Kurz adds: "The profit and loss accounts are a wonderful basis for costing, because we try to fulfill every request of our customers as best as possible, including with regard to price."
