In the Münster Chamber district, more founders started their own businesses with the help of the funding last year, 2020.
Master craftsmen and women who start their own business can now receive a master craftsman start-up bonus as start-up capital. The state of North Rhine-Westphalia has increased this subsidy from €7.500 to up to €10.500. €13,5 million will be made available statewide over the next three years for start-ups in the skilled trades. "We are pleased about this appreciation for founders with master craftsmen titles," emphasizes Hans Hund, President of the Münster Chamber of Crafts. They assume responsibility for the stable creation of jobs and training positions in the region. The bonus is a good incentive for entrepreneurial courage.
In the COVID-19 year of 2020, 103 master craftsman start-up bonuses were approved. That's 45 more than in 2019. A total of 391 master craftsmen and women started their own businesses in the Münster Chamber of Commerce district last year. Approximately one in three successfully applied for the start-up bonus. In the past 25 years – the bonus has existed since 1995 – 3.028 master craftsmen have started their own businesses with the help of the bonus.
78 percent of all approved applications have already been completed because the funding targets were met; 2.374 master-managed businesses demonstrated the creation of 10.261 jobs in Münsterland and the Emscher-Lippe region. The remaining businesses have not yet claimed the funds within three years.
Subsidies are available for the initial step into self-employment, including both start-ups and business takeovers and investments in companies with at least 50 percent of the registered capital. For start-ups and investments, at least one permanent full-time job subject to social insurance contributions or two part-time jobs, each with 50 percent of the capital, must be created for at least twelve months. This requirement can also be met by securing a training position within 24 months. Funding is available for investments of at least €12.000. The maximum funding amount is granted for investments of €15.000 or more.
