On July 4, the "Brandenburg Start-up Prize" was awarded for the first time. The new award is part of Brandenburg's start-up initiative.
The prize was awarded in four categories: " Female Start-up " (as the successor to the former "Female Entrepreneur of the Year" award), " Business Succession ", " Start-ups with a Migration Background ", and " Audience Award ". It is endowed with €4.000 per category .
Minister-President Dietmar Woidke is the patron of the new prize and praised the founders' commitment: "The Brandenburg Start-up Prize is both an award and an incentive for all founders, honoring their successful start-up stories. With this start-up initiative, we are promoting the innovative strength of Brandenburg's economy throughout the state, improving the conditions for business succession, and supporting technology transfer from universities and research institutions. In doing so, we are improving the prerequisites for a sustainable, resilient, and diverse SME sector of tomorrow."
The competition was open to founders whose companies are headquartered in the state of Brandenburg and were founded between 2019 and 2022. Participants must also be managing partners or sole proprietors . Furthermore, the business model should consider ecological, economic, and social sustainability aspects.
The award winners were selected by a jury of experts from the Brandenburg economy chaired by State Secretary for Economic Affairs Hendrik Fischer.

The awards ceremony took place in Potsdam's Schinkelhalle. Numerous guests from politics, business, and culture attended to honor the most successful founders. As a special highlight, the guests in attendance voted live for the winner of the Audience Award. Prior to the ceremony, the ten nominees presented themselves live on stage, similar to an elevator pitch.

Founded with a migration history: Dr. Muhammad Sukmana, Mitigant GmbH
Audience Award: Dr. Henri Knobloch, Seqstant GmbH
A key component of the award ceremony was the multimedia presentation of the winners' founding stories . Instead of a traditional laudatory speech, these stories were presented emotionally and entertainingly by a professional speaker.
The Association of Music and Art Schools Brandenburg provided the musical entertainment with performances by the LaJJazzO Octet, which consists of members of the Brandenburg State Youth Jazz Orchestra under the direction of Jiggs Whigham.
