BMWi continues to promote trade fair participation by start-ups

The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy is extending the funding program for start-ups' trade fair participation until the end of 2023.

The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) continues to support start-ups in their trade fair participation . The funded companies can participate in joint stands at international trade fairs in Germany, organized by the respective trade fair organizers. The trade fair program is aimed at young companies from industry, trade, and technology-oriented service sectors. It is designed to support the marketing and, in particular, the export of new products and processes from German companies. The funding program has now been extended by the Federal Government until December 31, 2023.

International markets as a springboard

Participation in international trade fairs can be a springboard for many companies to gain a foothold in new markets. However, young companies in their early years often lack the necessary financial resources and experience to establish effective business contacts at international trade fairs. The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy has been supporting young, innovative companies in this regard for many years.

Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy Altmaier stated: "The leading international trade fairs in Germany offer an excellent platform for marketing new products, also with a view to opening up global markets. By offering the opportunity to participate in joint stands, we enable young, innovative companies to establish important business contacts and develop new export markets. With the extension of the funding program, we are now continuing this successful program."

Start-ups receive funding

The companies receiving funding will have the opportunity to participate in joint stands organized by trade fair operators at leading international trade fairs in Germany . Funding is available for young, innovative companies based in Germany that are no more than 10 years old, have fewer than 50 employees, and an annual balance sheet total or annual turnover of less than €10 million. The trade fair funding program is administered by the Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control (BAFA) in Eschborn.
