Web series shows young women in male-dominated professions

The first three episodes of the web series ":in" will be available on YouTube starting April 15. They portray young women asserting themselves in male-dominated fields. Isabelle, aka @die.tischlerin, is also involved from the trades.

As a woman, Annika Prigge She had been in the minority since high school. Twenty boys and ten girls were enrolled in the sports program at a Kiel high school. The first protagonist arranges a wine tasting for her. "Until then, winemaking was a profession I associated with old, white men. Pauline shows, however, that there are also agile, young female winemakers."

Through a cultural journalist friend she arrives Liser, who, as a rapper, struggles with an extremely testosterone-driven environment. She finds her third interview partner on social media.

Female role models were missing

Although Annika Prigge loved to do handicrafts and work with wood in her father's workshop, she would never have thought of starting a business after school. Training as a carpenter to begin. "I simply had the female role models were missing", explains the Schleswig-Holstein native. She now wants to make this possible for others with her film project.

Performance at Girls' and Boys' Day

In addition to the short films, Annika Prigge and her team, together with educators, also develop teaching material, which is made available to schools. "We want to raise students' awareness of gender discrepancies in career choices, but also encourage them not to let this deter them."

The information package on the topic of gender equality is rounded off by the Instagram presence of the web series. "There are always little teasers for the videos, but we also feature other women who have made their mark in male-dominated fields and explain terms like gender and feminism."
