Rowena Redwanz: Competition victory promotes craftsmanship

She was barely allowed to reveal anything about the filming beforehand – and of course, how successful she was. But the finale was broadcast on August 6th and Rowena Redwanz was also crowned the winner of this competition! It's clear from the interview that she had a blast with the competition. She explains that the tasks were very varied and sometimes presented her with real challenges – and not just because of the unfamiliar baking utensils and ovens. Even as a professional, things can go wrong sometimes. "I had to improvise," she laughs. At the same time, despite the competition, the candidates were happy to help each other. "It was a warm team atmosphere – including with the production crew," she recalls of the long, exciting days of filming. Being in front of the camera hardly bothered her, says the rather reserved Redwanz: "When you're baking, you're so focused that you usually block out the cameras." Looking back, the professional pastry chef also sees her participation and victory "as an opportunity to promote the craft industry." She is grateful that the Koblenz Chamber of Crafts and Trades granted her time off for filming, thus supporting a special promotional campaign for the craft industry.
