Carmen Heinke, Managing Director of Bäckerei Hardt GmbH, has received the Master Craftsman Award from the KölnHandwerk Foundation.
The 11th Master Craftsman Award of the " Stiftung KölnHandwerk " (Cologne Crafts Foundation) of the Cologne Chamber of Skilled Crafts was awarded to bakery owner Carmen Heinke . As managing director of Hardt GmbH bakery, she runs a business with nearly 200 employees, founded in 1931. Mayor Henriette Reker and Chamber of Skilled Crafts Master Nicolai Lucks paid tribute to the Cologne native.
The company is a model of social and environmental responsibility . The bakery is extremely committed to training apprentices . Furthermore, it is distinguished by its numerous charitable activities . In addition to a certificate, the winner received the so-called Master Craftsman's Prize Bell and €10.000 in prize money , which is to be donated to a social project.

Master Craftsman's Prize Bell : The Master Craftsman's Prize Bell is a miniature replica of the largest bell in Cologne's City Hall tower, which was donated by then-Chancellor Konrad Adenauer during the tower's reconstruction. Bernhard Günther, then President of the Chamber of Skilled Crafts, presented a miniature of this bell to Adenauer as a birthday gift from Cologne's skilled trades. A replica bearing the coats of arms of the city and district guilds, along with the recipient's name cast in bronze, is presented to each year's Master Craftsman's Prize winner.
