900 Euro subsidy for each charging point in the company

The Federal Ministry of Transport and KfW are launching a subsidy program for the construction of new electric charging stations on November 23. Companies and municipalities will each receive €900 per charging point.

To advance climate protection through electromobility, Germany needs more charging stations. Federal Ministry of Transport (BMVI) and the KfW to November 23 Grant programs for new charging stations at Company and municipalities.

Funded the procurement and Construction of charging stations for electric vehicles at non-public parking spaces for charging commercial or municipal  electric vehicles (Fleet vehicles and car sharing vehicles) as well as for vehicles from Occupy of companies and municipalities. Eligible to apply are among other private Companies, sole proprietors, Freelancers, chambers and associations as well as non-profit organizations.

Objective The aim of the funding is to create a sufficient charging infrastructure in companies and municipalities so that companies and municipalities as well as their employees are motivated to switch to electrically powered vehicles to change.

What is promoted?

The subsidy is 70 percent of the total eligible costs (purchase, connection and installation), but maximum 900 euros per charging point. The acquisition and construction of a brand new Charging Station including the electrical connection (grid connection and battery storage) and associated necessary ancillary work at non-publicly accessible parking spaces in Germany.

When determining the total costs, costs for the following Services to be considered: 

  • Charging station (hardware)
  • Energy management system/charging management system for controlling charging stations 
  • Electrical connection (grid connection) and battery storage systems 
  • Necessary electrical installation work (e.g. earthworks)
  • Necessary technical and structural measures at the grid connection point and the building (e.g. structural changes to participate in a flexibility mechanism according to Section 14a of the Energy Industry Act (EnWG)) 
  • Necessary upgrading/modernization measures for the building's electrical system and the charging station's telecommunications connection.

The Value-added tax can be co-financed if there is no entitlement to input tax deduction.

Only for electricity from renewable energy sources

Prerequisite: for the funding is that the power used for the charging process Electricity 100 percent from renewable energies This can be done through a corresponding electricity supply contract and/or from on-site self-generation, for example from a Photovoltaics-System can be obtained.

Companies must apply for the grant before the project starts in the KfW grant portal apply for. Deadline for proof of the measure carried out is 12 months from the confirmation of the grant application.
