Ten points for reducing bureaucracy
Member of the Bundestag and master electrician Manfred Todtenhausen is campaigning for the reduction of bureaucracy with ten demands.
This article is part of the special feature on bureaucratic madness in the skilled trades.
Manfred Todtenhausen wants to reduce bureaucracy and embrace more digitalization. The FDP member of the Bundestag and master electrician calls for action instead of platitudes. The federal government boasts that the bureaucracy brake, with its "one in, one out" principle, appears to be working for the first time at the federal level. But that's not enough. The burden of forms, statistics, and requirements such as the appointment of a data protection officer is perceived to be increasing. Especially in the area of EU regulations, there are often regulatory obligations that are not practical and burden small and medium-sized businesses with work and time.
There's a lot to do here. Therefore, Manfred Todtenhausen, the FDP parliamentary group's expert on craft policy and also responsible for reducing bureaucracy, wants to launch a campaign. Under the motto "Todtenhausen's 10 Points for Reducing Bureaucracy," he is launching two themed weeks from November 19 to 30. Every day, he will make a new demand for simplifying and accelerating bureaucratic processes on his Facebook account and website, encouraging dialogue with business owners about their views and suggestions.
The same applies to the still-lacking digitalization. Germany continues to rank near the bottom in international comparisons when it comes to the digitalization of administrative services. Missing, unsuitable, or unknown electronic services lead to comparatively low user rates in Germany. This must change. Click here for the video launching the campaign by Manfred Todtenhausen.
