Bakers demand bureaucracy reduction after the federal election

The North German guild bakers from the federal states of Bremen, Lower Saxony, Hamburg, Schleswig-Holstein and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern are launching a poster campaign in their guild bakeries in September, advocating for a " significant reduction in bureaucracy " after the federal elections.

"The bakers in the north want to bake and pamper their customers , instead of shuffling files, studying regulations, or keeping pointless lists," emphasizes the Northern Bakers' and Confectioners' Association . According to the association, master bakers and their employees are investing almost a fifth of their working time in bureaucratic activities this year .

"Every day we have many thousands of customers who buy our baked goods. Through the display of various posters in our branches, social media and press work, the guild bakers will present their demands to politicians in the coming weeks," said Maren Andresen , Chairwoman of the Association.

Managing Director Jan Loleit adds: "The burdens imposed by reporting obligations to the statistical offices, record-keeping requirements, the maintenance of control lists, and even the obligation to issue receipts remain immense . Concrete proposals for reducing bureaucracy have been developed, for example, by the Baden-Württemberg Regulatory Control Council and are awaiting implementation ."
