Stihl Allpro system: New high-performance batteries for professionals

With the Allpro system, Stihl is launching a new generation of high-performance batteries with longer run times, faster charging times and a longer lifespan.

Stihl introduces the Allpro battery system, a new generation of high-performance batteries for professional applications. The new system features batteries with Tabless technology, ensuring long runtimes, fast charging times, and a lifespan of up to 3.000 charge cycles.

These batteries are fully compatible with the existing AP system. This allows users to seamlessly continue using their existing devices and batteries . The goal is to further simplify the daily work of professional users and to take the next step in terms of technology.

According to Michael Traub , CEO of the Stihl Group, the Allpro battery system is based on many years of development and application experience. Investments in existing technology remain protected through compatibility.

The new system offers three Tabless batteries – AP 100.0 P (0,9 kilograms, 111 watt-hours), AP 200.0 P (1,3 kilograms, 222 watt-hours) and AP 300.0 P or PC (1,9 kilograms, 333 watt-hours ) . They cover different requirements.

The AP 300.0 PC model can also be integrated into the Stihl Connected digital fleet management system. Thanks to intelligent electronics, the batteries offer a constant power output regardless of the charge level, ensuring maximum performance from battery-powered devices throughout the entire work operation.

Fast charging and high robustness

With the AL 1802 MO mobile fast charger, the new batteries are 80 percent charged in just nine minutes . This is also possible without a power outlet when used with the PS 2000 power station. The batteries are protected against both splashing and jet water (protection class IPX5) and allow up to 3.000 charging cycles without any loss of performance.

In addition, Stihl also offers standard cell batteries (AP 20.1 and AP 30.1) as inexpensive alternatives for users for whom fast charging times are less important.

Technical details and comparison

The Tabless-based batteries offer twice the lifespan of conventionally designed batteries. Compared to the standard-cell AP 300.0 S battery, the AP 300.0 P model with Tabless technology provides 60 percent more peak power and 20 percent longer runtimes . Tabless technology reduces the internal resistance of the cell, thereby minimizing heat generation and extending the battery's lifespan.

Battery versus gasoline: Economic aspects

A comparison with chainsaws from the same company makes it clear that although the purchase costs for battery-powered devices are higher, in the long run there is a considerable cost advantage due to lower electricity costs and reduced maintenance expenses.

A calculation example shows that with annual use of three hours per day over 240 working days, the operating costs for a battery-powered chainsaw with four AP 200.0 P batteries amount to approximately €130 for electricity, while the gasoline-powered MS 201 CM incurs approximately €5.133,60 in fuel costs. This results in a significant overall cost advantage for the battery-powered version after just one year. A cost-benefit calculator for comparison is available online.
