Tax bonus for tradesman's invoices
Can I deduct the invoice from my taxes? Many tradespeople are faced with this question. The ZDH has now updated its flyer for businesses and their customers.
This article is part of the special feature " Tax bonus for craftsmen's invoices: What you should know".
Since the end of 2016, there have been important changes affecting the tax bonus for tradesmen's services. Customers can now also deduct the bill for connecting their home to the utility and wastewater networks from their taxes.
The following are now also eligible for tax relief: leak tests of wastewater pipes, TÜV inspections of elevators, and inspections of lightning protection systems. Also eligible as services performed by tradespeople are the testing of the proper functioning of a system, the repair of existing damage, and preventative measures.
Information flyer for tradesmen and their customers
The German Confederation of Skilled Crafts (ZDH) publishes an informational flyer for craft businesses and their customers – for example, as an insert with cost estimates. This flyer was updated in January 2017 based on the new BMF (Federal Ministry of Finance) letter.
The updated flyer also points out that activities not carried out in the customer's home , but in the workshop of the craft business, are not eligible for the subsidy.
