Hourly rate must be economical

If a tradesperson works on an hourly basis, the invoice must state the hourly rate and the number of hours worked. If the work was performed inefficiently, the customer may deduct the amount.

This doesn't change even if the client has previously signed a timesheet. By signing, the client only confirms that the listed hours were worked.

In the event of a legal dispute, the client bears the burden of proof that the expenditure is uneconomical. However, the contractor must provide sufficient information so that the client can assess the economic viability of the expenditure in detail.
