Whether innovative concepts, youth development or support for voluntary work: Organizations, companies and individuals could apply for the "Helping Hand" award of the Federal Ministry of the Interior (BMI) until June 30, 2026.
In 2026, the Federal Ministry of the Interior ( BMI ) will award the " Helping Hand " prize for the 18th time, honoring organizations, companies and individuals who are particularly committed to voluntary work in civil protection.
Provided that their efforts strengthen voluntary work in civil protection , in principle all organizations, companies or individuals can participate with their projects.
Applications can be submitted online at helfende-hand-foerderpreis.de/bewerbung . The jury will select three winners in each of the three categories : "Innovative Concepts," "Developing Young Talent," and "Supporting Volunteer Work." In addition, the jury will award a special prize in 2026 for the integration of volunteers after their professional careers. Audience participation is also encouraged, as a public choice award will be presented to one of the nominees. The Helping Hand Award 2026 is expected to be presented at a ceremony in Berlin in early December 2026.

In 2025, Elektrotechnik Lüneburg received second prize in the "Support of Voluntary Work" category for their Elektrotechnik-Support project . More information about the project can be found on the Helping Hand website.
