Stellantis renews its commercial vehicle fleet
One group, three models, four brands – this is the formula for the newly launched van series from Citroën, Fiat, Opel and Peugeot.
This article is part of the special feature on fleet management: How to organize your vehicle fleet!
Since last October, the Stellantis Group has restructured its commercial vehicle operations . Pro One is the name of the strategic unit that consolidates the group's commercial vehicle activities, encompassing the Citroën , Fiat , Opel/Vauxhall , and Peugeot brands with their vans. RAM , the pickup truck specialist, is also part of this unit . Pro One acts as an overarching structure for the van division, overseeing strategic decisions such as the development of hydrogen-powered vans across all brands, while these brands themselves operate as competitors in the market, both internally and externally.
This has advantages: The four brands share the development costs of new model series , and dealer networks are structured differently in each market. Customers buy based on dealer proximity and personal relationships ; the vans are not significantly different in price. In the long term, Stellantis plans to switch to an agency model , so that dealers act only as agents for the brands and guarantee uniform prices for models nationwide for their customers. Furthermore, due to the identical construction of the models – apart from brand-specific changes, mostly in appearance – each brand can easily carry out repairs on other models.
That's still a long way off. Stellantis has currently completely revamped all three van ranges across its brands . All models have undergone thorough facelifts , and significant progress has been made in electrification, with the large van class in particular boasting much-improved vehicles and greater ranges. More substantial changes are only found in the small city delivery van range, although there have also been some updates to the larger vans.
The Peugeot Partner stands out from other brands in the group with its i-Cockpit, a driver-focused dashboard , and a small steering wheel. Citroën offers three front seats in this class, while Opel boasts LED headlights . Only Fiat, like the other brands, features the classic, brand-specific specifications, including the logo and design elements, primarily at the front, to create a distinct brand identity . Depending on the model, the vans are already at dealerships, or at least the order books are open, with deliveries to follow gradually. You can read about the specific changes to each model in the individual brand descriptions.
