Double success for stone sculptor Clemens Gerber
Michelle Täubert won the German Stonemasons' Championship. Clemens Gerber took the title among the stone sculptors, who also won the "Good Form in Crafts" design competition.

At the German Championship in stonemasonry and stone carving, held at the Holleben Inter-Company Training Center, 15 state champions faced the challenge of a practical exercise to determine the national champions. After a good six hours working with stone, the results were determined following intensive evaluation by jury members Stefan Lutterbeck, Georg Biermeier, Thomas Florian, Heike Spohn, and Christian Elstner, according to the Vocational Training Center for Stonemasons and Sculptors.

Second place went to Michael Neumann ( training company: Lippert-Neumann, Kaufbeuren ) from Bavaria . Third place in the competition was awarded to Imo Lev Krause ( training company: Naturstein Balz, Mainz-Kastel ) from Rhineland-Palatinate.
Clemens Gerber ( training company: Huber Stone Sculpture, Oberkirch ) from Baden-Württemberg won the national championship in stone carving . Second and third places could not be awarded at this year's German Stone Carving Championship.
Winner of the design competition
In the design competition "Good Design in Craftsmanship - Craftsmen Design", a total of nine journeyman pieces were evaluated primarily on the basis of their creative originality, their technical execution and design quality.

Second place went to Lukas Fauser ( training company: Grabmale, Natursteine, Bildhauerei - Andreas Lüttig, Göppingen ) from Baden-Württemberg for a tracery design for a stair railing. Janis Langer ( training company: Steinmetzbetrieb Hampel, Mertingen ) from Bavaria won third prize with a garden fountain he crafted.
In the stone carving category, Clemens Gerber ( training company: Huber Stone Sculpture, Oberkirch ) from Baden-Württemberg won with his female nude. Second place went to Quirin Scheungraber ( training company: Klinger Stone Masonry, Eitting) from Bavaria , who was awarded for his sea turtle sculpture (The Path to the Other Element).
Celebration in Berlin
The awards ceremony for the skills competition will take place in Berlin on December 9, 2023. At this event, all winners from the skilled trades will be honored by the German Confederation of Skilled Crafts (ZDH).
