From November 10th to 12th, 2025, the best carpenters and joiners of the current graduating class in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania competed for glory and honor. The Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania State Guild Association had invited 19 up-and-coming talents – including an influencer, a Canadian, and a candidate for international competitions – to the Regional Vocational Training Center in Waren an der Müritz.
According to the German Federal Guild Association of Carpenters and Joiners, the task presented a particular challenge . Within 18 hours, participants had to produce a " Schroderothek " – a test piece made of ash. After receiving the materials and production drawings, they had to create a board layout to accurately transfer the joints. They also had to prepare the surface for a clear varnish finish. Machines could be used for most of the work on the individual parts. Among the challenges were the veneering work and the creation of the dovetail joints. The participants were able to express their creativity by designing the flap with veneer.
Federal Champion 2025
Simon Patrzek from Schleswig-Holstein won the 2025 German Championship in Carpentry and Joinery . He scored 84,6 out of a possible 100 points and even earned a bonus point. The competition for second and third place was incredibly close: Vitus Brandmair from Bavaria took second place with 82,8 points. Leo Eisen, also from Bavaria , scored just 0,2 points less and had to settle for third place. The top three finishers each received a professional power tool from Festool and a product assortment from Spax corresponding to their ranking.
Celebration in Frankfurt/Main

During the event, the German Confederation of Skilled Crafts (ZDH) will honor the winners of the German Championship and the design competition "Good Design in Craftsmanship – Craftspeople Design".
