The 2022 national champion in agricultural and construction machinery mechatronics was determined at DEULA Westfalen-Lippe . Eleven female candidates and one male candidate competed against each other in the disciplines of mechanics, pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical engineering, and electronics. Frederik Maag from Lower Saxony , who trained at Poggemann GmbH in Bad Iburg, won the practical skills competition at the national level . Frederik Maag confidently pulled off his task and ultimately came out on top.
Whether the newly crowned national champion of 2022 or the winner from the previous year will travel to Gdansk (Poland) for EuroSkills 2023 is still to be decided . August Mussmann, however, will definitely be there: "I'm training our candidate so that we have a fair chance of winning in our trade at EuroSkills. That's our goal!" according to a press release from DEULA Westfalen-Lippe GmbH.
The German Skilled Trades Competition (PLW) takes place annually in over 130 trades and in up to four successive stages (guild, chamber, state, and national levels), according to the German Confederation of Skilled Crafts (ZDH). The national winners will be honored by the ZDH in a ceremony in Augsburg on December 9, 2022. The patron of the PLW is the incumbent Federal President. In the online article "Tim Damerius is the best agricultural and construction machinery mechatronics technician" on handwerksblatt.de, we report on the 2021 national skills competition for agricultural and construction machinery mechatronics technicians.
Tasks at the PLW

Richard Poppenborg, head of the Agricultural and Construction Machinery Technology Center at DEULA in Warendorf, adds: "They also had three hours to build an electro-hydraulic system according to a circuit diagram . An examiner constantly observed them during this process."
Varied profession
"The PLW (German Agricultural Machinery Trade Fair) demonstrates year after year just how diverse, complex, and exciting our profession is," explains Ulrich Beckschulte, Managing Director of the German Agricultural and Construction Machinery Association . Agricultural and construction machinery mechatronics technicians are more than ever balancing manual dexterity with digital technology. "But that's what makes our trade incredibly varied."
As the responsible association, we are vehemently committed to continually adapting the content and technical framework of the profession to practice, from the regional guild to the state and federal levels. This is the only way to guarantee training that is groundbreaking. "We warmly congratulate the winners and look forward to honoring them again soon at our federal conference."
