Focus on the future of the baking trade

The general meeting of the Saarland bakers' guild recently took place in the premises of the Saarland Chamber of Skilled Crafts.

At the general meeting of the Saarland Bakers' Guild in the exhibition hall of the Saarland Chamber of Skilled Crafts (HWK), the HWK's Deputy Managing Director, Hans-Ulrich Thalhofer, welcomed the guild members and Managing Director Sabine Hensler. HWK President Helmut Zimmer also addressed the bakers present with a greeting.

In addition to legal and organizational topics, the future of the baking trade was a key focus. Dominic Stumpf from the German Baking Academy in Weinheim provided valuable insights on this subject. Christian Raab, head of the Chamber of Skilled Crafts' (HWK) training advisory service, spoke about the "integration of trainees from abroad." Many bakeries in Saarland are now training young people from Madagascar, for example. In his welcoming address, Hans-Ulrich Thalhofer emphasized the central role of bakeries as local suppliers in rural areas. The new HWK training center was also an important topic of discussion at the meeting.
