State and national top apprentices celebrated
The Saarland craft sector has honored the journeymen and journeywomen of the current graduating class who achieved top rankings at the DMH at state and federal levels.
At the end of January, Saarland's skilled trades sector celebrated the apprentices from the current graduating class who achieved top placements at the "German Skills Championships (DMH) – German Craft Skills" at the state level and, in some cases, at the national level. At the same time, the leadership of the Saarland Chamber of Skilled Crafts (HWK) acknowledged the high quality of training provided in the companies where the honored young craftspeople were employed.
Around 150 guests, including family and friends as well as representatives from Saarland's skilled trades, training companies, and vocational training centers, congratulated the young skilled craftspeople in the Chamber of Skilled Crafts' main hall. Chamber President Helmut Zimmer, Deputy Managing Director Doris Clohs, and Saarland's Minister of Economic Affairs Jürgen Barke presented the awards. The national winners received additional recognition in the form of special prizes from IKK Südwest and the Saarland Skilled Trades Foundation.

Saarland was represented at the DMH 2025 with state champions from 24 trades. The best had completed their journeyman's or final examinations by the summer of the competition year.
Furthermore, the Saarland craft sector is producing the following national best this time:

- Fabienne Latz from St. Ingbert, optician, second national winner in the special competition "Die Gute Form" and third national winner
- Elias Thome from Quierschied, plumbing, heating and air conditioning technician, third national winner
Helmut Zimmer, President of the Chamber of Skilled Crafts (HWK), praised the team performance of the top German Craftsmen and their companies: "Tonight we honor the outstanding achievements of our young talents and those who have so brilliantly trained them. Their success at the German Championships demonstrates what our top performers and their training companies can achieve together. We are convinced that this was just the beginning and wish them many more successes together in the future."
"Diverse career prospects"
Doris Clohs, Deputy Managing Director of the Saarland Chamber of Skilled Crafts, echoed the President's congratulations and appealed to the top performers to actively shape the future of the industry: "Skilled crafts offer diverse career prospects, from master craftsman certification and responsible management positions to self-employment. Our DMH top performers have the best prerequisites to seize these opportunities."
Minister of Economic Affairs Jürgen Barke emphasized: "The successes at the German Championships in Craftsmanship impressively demonstrate the high performance and future-oriented capabilities of Saarland's skilled tradespeople. Their achievements form the foundation for Saarland's quality, innovative strength, and the attractiveness of our business location. With their outstanding commitment, they have clearly demonstrated the high standard of dual vocational training in Saarland."
