Hans-Ulrich Thalhofer takes office
Hans-Ulrich Thalhofer took office as deputy managing director of the Saarland Chamber of Skilled Crafts (HWK) on February 2nd.
The General Assembly of the Saarland Chamber of Skilled Crafts appointed Hans-Ulrich Thalhofer as Deputy Managing Director of the Chamber at its meeting in December 2025. He brings many years of leadership and management experience in the skilled crafts and environmental sectors. From 2006 to 2022, he was Managing Director of Saar-Lor-Lux Umweltzentrum GmbH, a former subsidiary of the Saarland Chamber of Skilled Crafts and Trades, as well as of 25 specialist guilds. Most recently, he served as Managing Director of the Saarland Construction Industry Employers' Association (AGV Bau Saar).
At the Chamber of Skilled Crafts (HWK), Hans-Ulrich Thalhofer will succeed Doris Clohs, the long-serving deputy managing director, who will retire in the summer of 2026. Until then, she will train him in his new role. "A shortage of skilled workers, rising costs, bureaucracy, and an overall uncertain economic environment are currently shaping the daily lives of many craft businesses in Saarland. I want to contribute to ensuring that we, as the Chamber of Skilled Crafts, address these challenges together with the businesses and find practical solutions in dialogue with policymakers and other key partners," says Thalhofer regarding his goals in his new position.
