Three prizes for final projects of designers (HWK)

Three final projects from the advanced training course "Designer:in (HWK)" have been awarded by the sponsoring association of the Academy for Design of the HWK Münster.

Twice a year, the sponsoring association awards prizes for particularly outstanding theses. Volksbank im Münsterland eG provides €500 for each of the equally outstanding awards. The academy's examination committee serves as the expert jury.

The prizes were presented by Dietmar Dertwinkel , chairman of the sponsoring association and board member of Volksbank im Münsterland , and Constanze Unger, representing the jury. They praised the winning entries and explained the jury's decision.

These are the award winners

• They were awarded Amelie Dörflinger and Frauke Rotte, both carpenters and now designers (HWK) from Münster, for their adaptive reuse concept "Between Preservation and Transformation." Using the fictional example of St. Petri Church in Münster, they developed a concept for the repurposing of sacred spaces. According to the jury, the work combines a highly topical social issue with a compelling design approach. The coherent connection between preservation and contemporary use, as well as the conceptual depth and consistent execution, were particularly commended.
• Also awarded was Mathis Fahrland, carpenter and now designer (HWK) from Bocholt, for the development of the "Grain Collection," a furniture series for the Ralf Fahrland carpentry workshop in Bocholt. The jury emphasized that the work combines high design standards with excellent practicality. The furniture collection develops a distinctive design language, showcases the company's craftsmanship, and consistently translates the design concept into a marketable product family.
• The Third prize was awarded to Lara Maria Schulze Scholle, master hairdresser and now designer (HWK) from Gescher., for her photographic editorial magazine "zwischen uns" (between us). The jury found the work to be a compelling exploration of interpersonal relationships in the age of digital communication and social networks. They particularly praised the expressive visual language, the clear visual dramaturgy, and the harmonious interplay of photography, typography, and layout.

The award-winning works, along with the other final projects of the current graduating class, were on display at the Academy of Design's exhibition . In total, the graduates presented 36 works from the fields of product design, interior design, and graphic design and communication.

The academy offers the full-time courses "Craftsman" and "Designer (Chamber of Skilled Crafts)" . Both programs last one and a half years. Attending the master craftsman school concurrently is possible.
