AzubiTrain: AI-powered to prepare for vocational training

Artificial intelligence is increasingly finding its way into everyday work life – including in skilled trades. The AzubiTrain initiative helps to manage its use in vocational training.

The "AzubiTrain – Your Future with AI" initiative offers trainees and trainers in North Rhine-Westphalia free training on how to use AI effectively, critically, and responsibly in vocational education. The Münster Chamber of Skilled Crafts is raising awareness of this opportunity among businesses and encouraging them to utilize this qualification for their training programs.

  • How can artificial intelligence support learning?
  • Where can it simplify work processes?
  • How do you formulate good queries for a chatbot – and how can you tell if its answer is wrong or unreliable?

"AzubiTrain – Your Future with AI" addresses precisely these kinds of questions.

This free training program is aimed at trainees and training staff in North Rhine-Westphalia. The goal is not only to teach young people how to use AI tools, but also to raise their awareness of the importance of critically evaluating results and using AI responsibly.

Eight modules for getting started with AI

At the heart of the offering is a digital learning path with eight modules. It begins with the basics of artificial intelligence and generative AI and leads through the use of chatbots to so-called prompt engineering – that is, how tasks and instructions for AI systems are formulated in such a way as to produce the most usable results possible.

Further modules focus on specific applications in training, the critical evaluation of AI results, and legal issues. These include, for example, recognizing and understanding erroneous or fabricated answers from chatbots, as well as copyright and the use of AI-generated content. The learning modules combine short explanatory videos with quizzes and practical exercises. AzubiTrain also offers online sessions for in-depth exploration of specific topics.

Also of interest to craft businesses

For training companies, the initiative offers the opportunity to integrate AI expertise into training programs at an early stage. Regardless of the trade, it is becoming increasingly important for young professionals to assess which tasks AI can help with – and where specialist knowledge, experience, and their own assessment remain indispensable.

Trainers also receive support. They can explore how AI can be meaningfully integrated into everyday training and how they can guide their trainees in using the technology safely and responsibly.

Free offer for trainees and companies

"AzubiTrain – Your Future with AI" is part of the IT Fitness initiative and is implemented by the Association for the Promotion of Youth and Social Work (Förderverein für Jugend und Sozialarbeit e. V.). The NRW Ministry of Labor supports the initiative. The program is free for trainees and training staff in North Rhine-Westphalia.

The Münster Chamber of Skilled Crafts recommends that its training companies and trainees find out about the offer and use the learning opportunities for their own everyday training.
