Friedhelm Adorf (82) wins German Championship gold again

82-year-old master mechanic Friedhelm Adorf from Heupelzen successfully defended his title in the 400 meters at the German Indoor Championships for Seniors in Düsseldorf, securing his 32nd German championship title.

Passion, discipline, and a willingness to perform – what counts in the trades also applies to sports. An impressive example of this is master automotive mechanic Friedhelm Adorf from Heupelzen in the Altenkirchen district. At the German Indoor Championships for Seniors, he clearly outpaced the competition with a time of 85,53 seconds. He also won the silver medal in the 200-meter dash. This success is no accident: The master craftsman trains rigorously and regularly. The virtues that still drive him in sports also shape his professional life – perseverance, precision, and the will to constantly improve. "You have to work hard for success. That applies to all areas of life," says the former district master craftsman and long-time head of the Altenkirchen automotive guild. For decades, Adorf ran his car dealership with the same passion he still displays on the track today, training many young people. For him, craftsmanship and athletic ambition are inextricably linked. Friedhelm Adorf continues to impressively demonstrate that an active professional life in the trades keeps one physically and mentally fit – both on the career path and in the workplace.

At the same time, he made a name for himself in international motorsport – among other things as a factory driver for BMW and with class wins at the legendary 24-hour race at the Nürburgring. Thus, the next generation of the Adorf family also demonstrates how closely craftsmanship, technical expertise, and sporting ambition are intertwined.
