The Schmitz family butcher shop has been honored at the nationwide "Women – Crafts – Succession 2026" competition in Berlin. Julia and Lena Schmitz accepted the award at the Brandenburg State Representation during the "Crafts: Attracting More Female Leaders" practical forum. The company was recognized for its commitment, its successful succession planning, and its role as a model for women in the skilled trades. 

The competition focused on successful practical examples demonstrating how more women can be attracted to leadership positions and business takeovers in the skilled trades. Topics such as succession in rural areas, sustainability, new work models, and strong female role models played a central role – aspects that the Schmitz family butcher shop exemplifies in its daily operations. Today, the company is entirely in female hands: butcher's assistant Sabine Schmitz, master butcher Julia, and cook Lena run the business – supported by an all-female team from within their own family.
