Reforestation of forests to preserve drinking water

Only a healthy, green forest can ensure a balanced water supply. However, persistently high temperatures and drought are currently putting forests under pressure. Since water is an essential source of life, Krombacher is supporting the preservation of stable forests with a large-scale reforestation program.

They prevailed against over 200 fellow butchers and can now celebrate a special award: Twelve butcher shops have been awarded the State Honorary Prize. Eight of them achieved the highest score.

The State Ministry for Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Tourism (StMELF) and the State Guild Association for the Bavarian Butchers' Trade They held the Max-Josef-Saal in the Munich Residence on June 19, 2026. Bavarian State Award for the Butcher Trade 2026 Awards were presented. Representing State Minister Michaela Kaniber, Hubert Bittlmayer, Head of the Bavarian State Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Forestry (StMELF), honored the twelve best butcher shops. Two vocational schools received the Young Talent Award in the culinary trades.

This year, 203 businesses with 940 products, as well as six vocational schools, applied for an award. The jury selects the winners after several years of quality assessments – including the "Butcher's Cup" and the DLG test – according to a press release from the Bavarian State Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Forestry (StMELF). For the first time, twelve butcher shops were honored instead of ten, because eight of the twelve winners achieved the maximum score of 5,0.

The State Vocational School 3 in Kempten and the State Vocational School I in Ingolstadt also received an award. They were honored with the Young Talent Award in the Culinary Arts for their participation in the quality inspection in the butcher's trade.
