Opticians: Graduation ceremony with the Prime Minister
Sixty opticians from Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland received their journeyman's certificates. Minister-President Gordon Schnieder offered his personal congratulations.
This year, the joint graduation ceremony for apprentice opticians from Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland took place in the town hall of Kirchheimbolanden. Sixty graduates received their journeyman's certificates and examination certificates.
State guild master Andreas Müller highlighted the achievements of the young craftspeople and thanked the examination committees and vocational school teachers for their commitment to training and examinations.
Among the honored guests at the graduation ceremony were Gordon Schnieder , Minister-President of Rhineland-Palatinate; Marc Steilen , Vice President of the Saarland Chamber of Skilled Crafts; Dr. Marc Muchow , Mayor of Kirchheimbolanden; and numerous representatives from the Chambers of Skilled Crafts in Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland. The offices of the Opticians' Guild and the SWAV (Saarland Association of Opticians and Opticians) were represented by Managing Director Peter Kupczyk and several employees from Speyer and Karlsruhe.
"I warmly congratulate the newly qualified opticians on their successful completion of their apprenticeships. They will be experts in all things related to good vision," said Minister-President Gordon Schnieder. He added that the optician and optometrist trades stand for precision, reliability, and the highest professional standards. "I am delighted that with today's graduates, we are gaining dedicated professionals who will help shape the future of our trade in Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland," Schnieder continued.
A total of 111 trainees took their journeyman's examinations in winter and summer. 102 of them passed.
Awards for outstanding exam performance
The top students in the class were:
- Thorben Hehr (Bad Dürkheim)
- Jérémie Charon (Koblen)
- Lara Andrea Schwemmlein (Saarbrücken)
- Nadine Schmidt (Trier)
Additional special awards went to:
- Thorben Hehr: Best overall result in the Chambers of Skilled Crafts districts of Rheinhessen and Palatinate
- Nadine Schmidt: Best overall result in the Koblenz and Trier chambers of skilled crafts districts and best practical result in Rhineland-Palatinate
- Lara Andrea Schwemmlein: Best overall result and best practical result in Saarland
The Southwest German Association of Opticians and Optometrists (SWAV) is the association of the opticians' guilds of Baden-Württemberg and Rhineland-Palatinate/Saarland as well as the state guild for the optician trade in Hesse.
