From March 17 to 20, 2026, the plumbing, heating, air conditioning and electrical industries will meet in Essen: SHK+E ESSEN brings together plumbing, heating, air conditioning and electrical engineering – with new topic hubs, strong specialist forums and a supporting program full of practical impulses.

When skilled tradespeople, planners, consultants, and industry representatives meet again at the Essen trade fair in spring 2026, one thing is clear: SHK+E ESSEN is back as the first major industry event of the year. From March 17 to 20, 2026, more than 300 exhibitors from 16 countries will present pioneering technologies and solutions for plumbing, heating, air conditioning, and electrical systems.

The focus is on topics that are currently of particular importance to the skilled trades: hybrid heating systems, heat pumps, biomass technologies, smart sanitary solutions, and cross-sector concepts for greater energy efficiency and security of supply. Digital tools and modern installation techniques also play a key role – with direct practical relevance for specialist companies.

"We have further developed and better networked the SHK+E ESSEN product range. At the same time, the sanitary sector is regaining more space and visibility," explains project manager Torben Brinkmann.

Electricity, heat and mobility: solutions working together

The trade fair demonstrates how closely electricity, heat, and mobility are intertwined today: In addition to heating and ventilation technology, photovoltaics, battery storage, energy management systems, and wallboxes are taking center stage. For the first time, cross-sector solutions are being directly integrated into the heating exhibition in Hall 3 – making synergies immediately tangible.

A true highlight for 2026 is the new Sanitary Hub: a dedicated exhibition area that gives the sanitary sector additional visibility and offers daily changing thematic focuses. Here, the focus is on innovations, efficient installation techniques, and solutions to the skilled worker shortage.

Even well-known returning companies like Hansa Armaturen, Hansgrohe and TOTO underline the importance of the segment.

Knowledge, exchange, inspiration: Expert forums & supporting program

SHK+E ESSEN stands not only for products, but also for expertise. The specialist forums and the supporting program offer visitors numerous opportunities for further education and networking – including three key stage formats:

  • Content Lab – the forum for innovation, digitalization and new perspectives
  • SHK+E Expert Stage – Lectures, best practices and expert knowledge live
  • Forum Future Building Technology – current developments from the heating industry

The program is complemented by action days such as the Benelux Day, focus formats for hospitality, guided tours for assembly optimization, and offers for young talent such as the trainee lounge and trainee rally.
