Bio-based special fuel as a sustainable alternative

Stihl presents MotoMix 100, a fully bio-based fuel for two-stroke engines. This enables more sustainable operation with significantly reduced CO₂ emissions.

With MotoMix 100, Andreas Stihl AG & Co. KG is the first manufacturer of power tools to introduce a special fuel for two-stroke engines made entirely from bio-based raw materials . The premixed fuel consists of 55 percent biogenic raw materials certified by the International Sustainability & Carbon Certification (ISCC) and 45 percent ISCC-certified recycled biomaterial.

Sustainable engine technology with MotoMix 100

This product development demonstrates that more sustainable operation of gasoline-powered two-stroke engines is possible, thus significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions during operation. The fuel mixture ensures the proven performance, engine lubrication, and operational reliability known from MotoMix – but with 60 percent lower carbon dioxide emissions compared to the fossil reference value for gasoline (73,4 grams of carbon dioxide equivalents per megajoule according to RED (EU) 2018/2001).

MotoMix 100 also burns with exceptionally low residue, guaranteeing clean engine operation. It contains no ethanol or virtually all olefins and aromatics. MotoMix 100 will be offered in a limited edition in 2026 under the name Centennial Edition to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Andreas Stihl AG & Co. KG.
