EH-55 New Construction Subsidy: Apply from December 16th

The start date is set: Applications for the EH-55 new construction subsidy for energy-efficient houses can be submitted to KfW starting December 16th. €800 million is available for projects ready for construction.

The Efficiency House 55 Plus subsidy program starts on December 16, 2025. Construction projects for which a building permit already exists will receive up to €100.000. KfW loans with reduced interest rates subsidized per residential unit, reports the Federal Ministry of ConstructionThe funding ends when the funds are exhausted. 800 million euros are available. "Thousands of projects ready for construction will thus have the chance to be implemented economically again," he says. Federal Minister for Construction Verena Hubertz. 

Currently, there are approximately 760.000 apartments in the so-called construction backlog The project is located on a site where plans and building permits exist, but have not been implemented for various reasons. The funding program aims to activate this reserve. 

The details 

✔️Eligible for funding is the construction or initial purchase of residential buildings. 

✔️ Municipalities can receive a subsidy of five percent.

Interest rates and loan term:

✔️ The loan term is a maximum of 35 years.

✔️ The fixed interest rate period is a maximum of ten years.

✔️ The funds for the grant will be provided as a one-off payment.

✔️ The loan amount must be drawn down within twelve months. The drawdown period can be extended up to a maximum of 24 months.
