Meiller with further developed tipper semi-trailers
Meiller presents the revised generation of its Grandload tipping semi-trailer. Featuring technical improvements, increased durability and a simplified model designation.
Meiller has a revised version of his tipper semi-trailer presented. The existing classic MHPS 44/3N is being replaced with comprehensive technical improvements by the new Grandload model series replaced. Key changes concern the chassis made of welded longitudinal and torsional cross members.
The chassis frame is now KTL-primed and has been redesigned in all lengths up to 7,6 meters. Engineers have optimized the frame head and the distinctive gooseneck in particular to address practical concerns. The steel profiles are welded using robotic control, ensuring consistently high manufacturing quality and precision. The modified design reduces cracking under heavy loads and minimizes corrosion susceptibility, significantly extending the service life of the Grandload product line, according to the company.
Enhanced operation and functionality
A new, larger crown plate provides greater spacing between the electrical, air pressure, and hydraulic connections. This significantly simplifies access and coupling to the tractor unit. The new bridge entry features reinforcement in the longitudinal beam and eliminates the need for a separate plastic support. The tipper body is now inserted into the frame from the inside during lowering, increasing the system's stability in the driving position.
Eliminating the weld between the longitudinal beam and the front wall allows the tipper body to slide more smoothly into the chassis. The bridge entry point can be easily adjusted laterally if needed – additional spacers are no longer required. The retrofittable operator's platform is also easier to install thanks to the design changes.
To counteract abrasive wear at the rear, the loading floor can optionally be reinforced in the rear third by up to six millimeters of material thickness. The empty weight of the all-steel tipper remains at approximately 5,600 kilograms in its basic configuration. The side walls are made of wear-resistant steel grade HBW 450.
Corner plates on the inside act as tie rods, while a closed, robot-welded top chord profile increases the section modulus compared to open profiles. The rear wall support is housed within the top chord area, ensuring that the cargo space remains unobstructed.
Modern components and equipment
Standard features include eighty-liter compressed air tank made of aluminum Air suspension is installed. Electrical cables are routed safely alongside the longitudinal beam under the tipper body. Only waterproof Superseal connectors are used. Roll-up tarpaulins or electric sliding tarpaulins are available for load securing.
The pneumatic underride protection The rear-mounted design allows for use with electrically powered tractors; no separate hydraulic system is required. Meiller manufactures its own steel structure, hydraulics, and tarpaulin systems, while axles, brakes, and other components continue to be sourced from reputable suppliers. All Grandload models offer extensive customization options.
The robust and at the same time weight-optimized design According to the manufacturer, it ensures high driving comfort, good tracking characteristics, optimal road holding, and high tipping stability. The series is characterized by its flexible application possibilities for various bulk materials and its adaptability to customer requirements. The low loading and tipping edges facilitate filling and emptying the skip.
The Grandload series will henceforth have a new type designation based on three characteristics: body type, number of axles, and nominal length. The MHPS 44/3N will become the Grandload P3-76: "P" stands for halfpipe, "3" for three axles, and "76" for 7,600 millimeters in length. Insulated tipper bodies will be designated with the suffix "Ti". The new series is available immediately.
