Carado celebrates its 150.000th motorhome
Since 2006, motorhomes for Carado have been built in Neustadt, Saxony. Now, vehicle number 150.000 has rolled off the assembly line there – in a market that has grown strongly in recent years.
The Capron production plant in Neustadt/Saxony has completed its 150.000th vehicle for Carado . The milestone model is a semi-integrated Carado T338 Edition27 based on a Ford chassis. The plant's location and partnership with Capron represent a consistent evolution from a young manufacturer to a versatile brand for motorhomes, vans, and camper vans.
In November 2006, the first motorhomes and campervans left the factory in Neustadt. Around 20 years later, a significant milestone has been reached with the current model range and the modernization of the production lines. The anniversary vehicle measures 6,99 meters in length, 2,32 meters in width, and 2,93 meters in height.
Rising demand

The number of motorhomes registered has more than doubled since 2017. On April 1, 2025, the one million mark for registered vehicles was exceeded for the first time . According to the Federal Statistical Office, around 44,7 million overnight stays were recorded at German campsites in 2025 – an increase of 4,2 percent compared to the previous year and 24,9 percent compared to 2019.
Carado has continuously expanded its portfolio and today offers models ranging from classic semi-integrated motorhomes and alcove models to fully integrated motorhomes, compact vans, all-wheel-drive camper vans, and options based on various vehicle chassis. For customization, optional solar panels, variable storage and sleeping solutions, and newly developed bathrooms are available. The CV602 pro+ camper van, for example, features a swivel bathroom with fold-down single beds for maximum space utilization. The CV595 X-Edition model, based on the VW Crafter, combines all-wheel drive with travel comfort.
Expertise at the Neustadt location
Optimizing production processes at the site has been a key success factor. Since the groundbreaking ceremony for the production expansion in 2014, efficiency has increased significantly: a second production line was commissioned in 2015, a second press line in 2016, and a new logistics hall with integrated furniture production in 2018. In November 2023, a third press line further enhanced the logistics processes.
Today, production comprises two lines : the manufacture of side walls and roofs using in-house sandwich panel production, and custom-made furniture components from the company's own joinery workshop. The entire value chain extends from the production of key components to final assembly.
Brand outlook
Since its founding, Carado has pursued the goal of developing functional, quality-tested, and competitively priced motorhomes for a broad target group. The connection to the Neustadt location remains strong: Capron produces vehicles for Carado and Sunlight and is part of the Erwin Hymer Group.
Some employees have been actively involved in shaping the company's development since 2006. Daniel Rogalski, Managing Director of Capron, emphasizes: "The 150.000th vehicle is an extraordinary milestone – for the site, for Capron, and for Carado. This milestone vehicle is therefore not only a reason to celebrate, but also a promise for the future." Sandro Meerheim, an employee of twenty years, adds: "The processes and technology have evolved significantly during this time. What has remained constant is the importance of collaboration."
With the 150.000th vehicle, a new chapter begins for the brand and the location. Carado announces that it will continue developing versatile motorhome solutions and fostering collaboration at the Neustadt production site.
