The new third-generation Mazda CX-5

The new Mazda CX-5 impresses with more space, optimized drive and digital equipment – ​​including Google built-in and enhanced safety features.

With over 4,5 million units sold since 2012, the Mazda CX-5 is one of the Japanese manufacturer's most important model series . Even in its third generation, it is expected to be one of the key models for tradespeople and small and medium-sized businesses.

The new Mazda CX-5 builds on its existing strengths and now offers a more distinctive design, more space for passengers and luggage, and enhanced safety features. The wheelbase and vehicle length each increase by 115 millimeters, resulting in significantly improved space, particularly in the rear seats and trunk.

Visually, the new generation is based on the "wearable gear" principle, featuring clean lines , a raised front end , and reinforced wheel arches . The raised front end offers improved visibility, while wider door openings facilitate entry and the installation of child seats.

The Kodo design remains a defining stylistic element. Inside, generous surfaces prevail, adhering to the Japanese principle of Ma, which emphasizes harmony and space . High-quality materials and a clean, uncluttered center console with an integrated touchscreen of up to 15,6 inches are used.

For the first time, Google built-in is fully integrated , complemented by a 10,25-inch digital instrument cluster and a head-up display . Numerous driver assistance systems are standard, including adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, emergency assist, and a 360-degree monitor with see-through view.

Infotainment and vehicle data are intuitively accessible via the central touchscreen. Functions such as automatic climate control and navigation can be controlled by voice. The MyMazda app expands connectivity with features like vehicle location, warning messages, and service planning. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are available wired or wirelessly.

Powertrain and driving characteristics

For its European models, Mazda is using a new 2,5-liter e-Skyactiv G 141 gasoline engine with Mazda M Hybrid system and cylinder deactivation. It delivers 104 kW/141 hp and a maximum torque of 238 Nm. A six-speed automatic transmission is standard , while all-wheel drive is available as an option.

Fuel consumption figures are seven liters per 100 kilometers for the front-wheel-drive CX-5, while the all-wheel-drive version consumes between 7,4 and 7,5 liters, according to the manufacturer. Emissions are between 157 and 159 grams of CO2 per kilometer _, and between 168 and 169 grams per kilometer, respectively.

With adapted springs and dampers, a balanced ratio of ride comfort, control, and efficiency is achieved. This becomes noticeable as soon as you drive the car a bit more briskly through winding roads. The G-Vectoring Control Plus system, an intelligent i-Activ AWD system, and the brake-by-wire braking system ensure improved driving stability and short braking distances.

Safety features include enhanced i-Activsense driver assistance systems: adaptive cruise control, steering assist, emergency braking assist with pedestrian and vehicle detection , lane departure warning, parking assist, and driver drowsiness detection. New features include a proactive driving assist system that automatically applies gentle braking when cornering and approaching slower vehicles.

The model range is available in four equipment variants and starts at a net price of €30.243,70 . New vehicles come with a six-year manufacturer's warranty (maximum 150.000 kilometers).
