An Iveco Daily for every application

With the Daily, the Italian commercial vehicle specialist offers an all-rounder from 3,3 to 7,5 tons in its model range. Thanks to conversion partners, there's a suitable Daily for every application.

Suddenly it becomes clear: we're heading in the wrong direction. Behind the wheel of an Iveco Daily, a classic panel van with a medium wheelbase—that's 3,52 meters—we have to turn around on the two-lane road. When it comes to the much-vaunted car-like qualities of commercial vehicles, this is one of them: With a turning circle of 11,90 meters, the Iveco easily competes with other cars and isn't even among the least. Incidentally, this figure also means it's best-in-class in its segment.

But Iveco didn't just show up in Hohenkammer near Munich to demonstrate the van's maneuverability. It's a showcase with conversion partners that makes one thing clear: The Daily is available for every purpose. The fleet of almost 20 vehicles on display alone ranges from 4x4 off-roaders to tippers and refrigerated vehicles to luxury camper vans. 8.000 variants of the Daily are available ex works, covering load volumes of up to 19,6 cubic meters and a maximum load capacity of 4,9 tons.

Conversion partners like Achleitner, Kress, and Sortimo make this possible. Most importantly, many models are even available as single-invoice vehicles. These include the Daily Flatbed (conversion partner: Scattolini), Daily Tipper (Meiller), Daily Tipper-Flatbed (Henschel), Daily Cool (Kerstner), Daily LaSi (Sortimo), and the Daily EcoBox (Spier/Saxas). The only other difference is the abbreviation LaSi, which stands for load securing. They all benefit from the new ladder frame on which they can mount their bodies and conversions.

In any case, the Daily, which was relaunched last year and named Van of the Year 2015, features a number of innovations that further improve its usability. For example, the axles and springs allow for higher axle loads.

The engines – all diesel – cover a power range from 106 hp to 205 hp and have a torque range from 270 to 470 Newton meters. There's also a natural gas variant (Natural Power) with 136 hp and two three-liter versions with 146 and 170 hp that are Euro VI compliant.

The latest addition is the Hi-Matic version, introduced this year – a variant with an 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission. The automatic transmission is weight-neutral compared to a manual transmission and boasts fast response times and clean, smooth shifting. The automatic transmission changes gears in less than 200 milliseconds and also offers various driving modes. Those needing performance can switch to Power mode, while those looking for fuel savings can opt for Eco mode.
