"Craftsmen need reliable framework conditions"

At the general assembly of the chief executives of all chambers of skilled crafts in Germany, Holger Schwannecke, chief executive of the German Association of Chambers of Skilled Crafts, called on the Federal Government to continue its reform program.

The managing directors of all German chambers of skilled crafts met at the Düsseldorf Chamber of Skilled Crafts . There, they discussed the election results in Berlin, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, and Saxony-Anhalt and their impact on the federal government 's policies . The discussion also touched on the planned reforms of the CDU/CSU-SPD coalition, energy supply and price developments in Germany, and the ongoing deterioration of the transportation network.

"The skilled trades need reliable framework conditions and a governing coalition that takes action. Dilapidated roads and bridges, high energy prices, rising costs, and a shortage of skilled workers demand political responses and solutions," emphasized Holger Schwannecke, Managing Director of the German Confederation of Skilled Crafts . "The Infrastructure Future Act, linked to the announced investment initiative, provides a good foundation for making progress in the planning, permitting, and construction of major infrastructure projects. Further structural reforms in the energy sector, regarding taxes, non-wage labor costs, and bureaucracy are essential."

The governing coalition has a responsibility to maintain its political capacity to act and to use its majority. "We cannot afford a standstill in reforms." Andreas Ehlert, President of the Düsseldorf Chamber of Skilled Crafts, appealed to the participants to consider the resilience and innovative capacity of the skilled trades, as well as the increased interest of young people in a career in the trades, when assessing the current situation, thereby sending a signal of confidence in the existing potential for stabilization. He, too, called on the federal government to "consistently implement" the reform package.
