Consistently strengthening skilled trades in Brandenburg

Craft policy

Following the swearing-in of the ministers of the new red-black state government in Brandenburg, the skilled trades are demanding security and stability for businesses.

Following the collapse of the coalition between the SPD and Sahra Wagenknecht's alliance in Brandenburg, the CDU is the Social Democrats' new partner. Together they form the new red-black government. The ministers have now been sworn in; six ministries are led by the SPD, and three by the Christian Democrats.

"Brandenburg needs security and stability now, not only politically, but also for the many craft businesses that take on daily responsibility for jobs and apprenticeships," explains Robert Wüst, President of the Chamber of Crafts Day of BrandenburgThe new state government has a duty to consistently strengthen small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and especially the skilled trades in its day-to-day government operations.

"This includes accelerated administrative modernization, reliable investments in infrastructure, schools and housing, as well as career guidance that makes it easier for young people to enter the skilled trades," said Wüst. The new coalition has the opportunity to combine economic and labor market policy continuity with new impetus.

"In light of the skilled worker shortage, rising costs, transformation and digitalization, we expect the state government to engage in dialogue with practitioners, master craftsmen, and their employees on the ground. When Minister-President Woidke speaks of security and stability in difficult times, this must also mean: predictable funding programs, unbureaucratic procedures, and a consistent strengthening of vocational training."
